Joanne Hill

Jo Hill won a silver medal as a member of the Australian women’s basketball team in 2000. A talented and versatile player, Hill provided a spark off the bench as the Opals reached its first Olympic final. Having won Australia’s first basketball medal, a bronze, in Atlanta four years earlier, the Opals enjoyed an outstanding tournament in Sydney, spurred only by cheering Aussie crowds. The team won seven straight games to reach the final. However, in the gold medal match they found defending champions the United Sates too hot to handle, losing 76-54. Hill also enjoyed a successful professional club career.
