Sydney-sider Sami Kennedy-Sim made her second Olympic appearance at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games, finishing 4th in the women’s ski cross small final. After narrowly missing a spot in the big final, Kennedy Sim’s final result of 8th place in 2018 was still 20th places better than her 28th finish in Sochi four years earlier.

Across the 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 seasons, the 29-year-old had several top ten performances but it was her 2016/2017 season where she truly impressed the international circuit with 5 top 10 performances and a silver medal at the Idre Fjall World Cup.

Kennedy-Sim’s breakthrough performance at the Idre Fjall World Cup in February 2017 was an exciting result, marking the third time an Australian Ski Cross athlete has won a World Cup medal. Kennedy-Sim joined former teammates Scott Kneller and current teammate Anton Grimus as the only Australian’s to achieve the significant milestone.

The Manly local went into the 2018 Winter Games as the 9th ranked athlete on the FIS World Rankings list, securing 7th and 5th place finishes in her first two World Cups following the Games.

Kennedy-Sim, who married Vancouver Olympian Ben Sim in 2011, wrapped up her 2017 season with a 12th place at the World Championships in Sierra Nevada, Spain.
