Chairman of the IOC Marketing Commission Gerhard Heiberg has received a resounding vote of confidence from the IOC members with his re-election to the Executive Board.Heiberg polled more than 50% of the votes against a star-studded field including Juan Antonio Samaranch (junior), Mustapha Larfaoui and Anita Defrantz.

Some would argue the costs are going through the roof but already six cities have thrown up their hands to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.They are Tokyo, Chicago, Madrid, Rio, Doha and Baku.IOC President Jacques Rogge would not be surprised if more cities entered the bidding race before the official deadline in September.

The issue will be discussed at the 119th IOC Session in Guatemala this week, if it gets the go ahead athletes will be blogging in Beijing.A committee set up by the IOC Press Commission Chairman, Kevan Gosper, has recommended blogging be permitted.
