BEACH VOLLEYBALL: Dynamic duo Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho Del Solar have taken out Australia's third consecutive Asian Beach Volleyball title in China over the weekend, while fellow Aussies Phoebe Bell and Jessyka Ngauamo claimed bronze.
Clancy and Artacho del Solar claimed gold for Australia after defeating the Chinese pair of Wang and X. Y. Xia, 2-0 in the final, the Australians winning the second set 32-30.
It is Clancy's fifth gold medal at the Asian Beach Volleyball titles and the second for Artacho Del Solar, who won her first in 2018 with Clancy.
Their gold medal capped off a great tournament for Australia with Phoebe Bell and Jessyka Ngauamo backing it up and winning bronze after defeating their Vanuatu opponents, 2-0.
For Bell it was her second bronze at the Asian titles, and the first medal for Ngaumamo. Their only loss throughout the tournament was against the number one Australian team and eventual winners Artacho Del Solar and Clancy.
The Australian men’s team of Damien Schumann and Cole Durant finished fourth, going down to China in the bronze medal game.
Manly Volleyfest winners, Becchara Palmer and Nicole Laird also put on a strong show, progressing to the quarterfinals of the tournament before being defeated by Aussie teammates Clancy and Artacho Del Solar. The pair finished in fifth place.
